US869 and 300RUM

Hi all,

I've been off on other pursuits for a few months so my apologies if this has already been covered. I did a search but didn't come up with much regarding the use of US869 in the 300RUM. Has anybody tried this powder with 180 or 200g pills? Any heavier bullets?

Thank you.

Re: US869 and 300RUM

I just posted in the Handloading forum. No velocities yet but accuracy looks good with 240s.

Can you post one of your email alias(s) on your profile? I have two 300 RUMs. You can get the data you seek at US 869 - 300 RUM

Thanks. I'll keep on eye on your project. You gonna send some 200g Accubonds down that tube by chance?

Re: US869 and 300RUM

Actually, I used AccuBonds for most of the break in but with Retumbo. I'm not in a big hurry to try them with US869 since Retumbo works so well for this weight. I got some decent groups:

They would have been better if I hadn't outsmarted myself with that fancy target...I found that small red dot annoying and hard to use--especially since most if it disappears when you hit it. A larger dot is much easier to use....

Anyway, it looks like they should do just fine in the 1:9 twist 3-groove.
