[ QUOTE ]
I am not all that familiar with "Great" groupings at 200 yards plus. 1.5" groups at 200 yards doesn't "appear" all that great on paper. Forgive my ignorance, but what is the minimum group size to be considered "great" at 200 yards - I am quite new to the sport of long range shooting

[/ QUOTE ] Any stock rifle that will shoot into 1.5" @ 200 yards is doing vary well indeed! Only on the internet do we read of better from an off the shelf rifle!

Re: Twist rate for 220gr Sierra Matchking in 300 RUM

And here I was thinking that my rifle had a problem! The only work that I have had done is the action bedded with Marine-Tex, and a trigger adjustment - we all know how bad Remingtons factory triggers are I use a Ken Ferrall 20 MOA base - also bedded with Marine-Tex - with a Elite 3200 10x Tactical scope and Burris Signature series rings.

Thanks for all the great info guys!!

Man I wish I could shoot that well at 200 yards with a 10x scope. But time has not treated my eyes that kindly. When I test anything anymore I screw on a 36X scope to find out what the load and rig is capable of. If I can't see my bullet holes, then I can't steer! Re: Twist rate for 220gr Sierra Matchking in 300 RUM

My suggestion is to try the 200 gr. Accubond at 90 gr. Retumbo and work up. My best load. These shoot very well in the Ultra's and better than the Sierra's in mine. I've yet to try the 240 SMK, but it will stabilize in the 10 twist 700 bbl.

Thanks for the tip Brent. I was thinking of trying out the 200 gr SMK. I have had good luck with all of sierras bullets so far.

Yes, I also prefer the larger magnification. But unfortunately, I don't have have any higher magnification scopes that will take the 300 RUMs poundings
