Re: Problem found!!!!

I figured as far as your shooting, the rotation of the earth could move the target that much between the shot and impact, try shooting north instead of west LOL! glad ya figured it out kirby.

Re: Problem found!!!!

James,

No, ya see, if I shoot north or south, the damn bullet moves to much by the time the bullet gets there. I think its windage issues but the earth is just moving the target away!!!

If I shoot to the east, when I shoot the target is at X yards but when the bullet gets there it is at X+Z yards because the earth is rolling the target away from me!!!

West is the only way to go, when I shoot, the earth will actually bring the target closer to me!!!

Those that are way to serious out there, this is a joke!!!

Re: Problem found!!!!

Went and talked to my cousin that owns the land where we do our long range shooting. He pulled out his survey maps and we did some figuring. If you can believe it, the yardage came out to 2861 yards from the point I shot to the point where the gong was at.

Never hurts to set up and shoot from fence lines!! With just a little math its easy to figure out the range.

Recalibrated the Wild and ready for the next attemps. We also mapped out a place to place the gong that will get me right on at 3K yards!!! Should be interesting. Colder then hell now though so will have to wait for a few days, work to be done anyway!!

Re: Problem found!!!!

One interesting thing I did not mention before. The hill where I set the gong up on had around 2 dozen gopher holes on it. I think you know where I am going with this come spring time!!!

Of course a mature gopher in this area is about the size of a pop can!!! not a real big target but a qualifying target none the less

In light of recent events, it would have been interesting to see what type of resonse you would have got from that post without the disclaimer!

Kirby, I've also found that when the Moon is above, I get less drop due to its gravitational pull. Have you seen that as well? The heavier the bullet the more noticeable it becomes.

I have noticed the same thing but backwards. The lighter the bullets the more noticable it becomes. Do you think this has something to do with being so close to the north pole??
