T/C vs. Weatherby vs. Mossberg?

Im looking to buy a new deer rifle. I've picked the caliber: a 30-06. But i can't decide on the rifle. I have narrowed down my list to a T/C Venture Weather Shield composite for $500, a Weatherby Vanguard S2 synthetic with blued barrel for $550, and a Mossberg 4X4 Grey laminate stock and stainless finish for $526. I'll be shooting Whitetail deer from 50 to 300 yds on field edges and thin timber. I have no experience with any of these rifles so any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
~TJ

Of the 3 you listed, it's a no brainer, Weatherby Vanguard S-2 no question. Even have a decent adjustable trigger.
I wouldn't even consider the other 2.
Weatherby Vanguard S-2 rifles "should" all shoot MOA or better. They all come with a factory target. Id look at a couple, & pick the one with the best target.
They have a "sub MOA" version for more $ but it seems that they pick the rifles with the smallest targets & throw a fancy "Sub MOA" stamp on em.

I agree completley!!! Weatherby all the way...

The other 2 wouldn't even cross my mind.

Re: T/C vs. Weatherby vs. Mossberg?

IIWY, out of your choices ...

If I do nothing with it (no future upgrades), I'd go with ...

1. T/C Venture Weather Shield
2. Weatherby Vanguard S2
3. Mossberg 4X4

If future upgrades is in the plan, I'd go with.

1. Weatherby Vanguard S2
2. T/C Venture Weather Shield
3. Mossberg 4X4

My friend has the T/C in .270 Win and is quite the shooter with factory ammo. If you can wait, they normally have a $100 off + 10 percent discount if you're military during Veteran's Day.

Good luck!

have a vanguard in 25-06, love it! nice trigger, bolt is smooth, break in was minimal.accuracy with factory ammo is pretty good, the best grouping was 2" @ 200yds. 516.00 out the door...

Re: T/C vs. Weatherby vs. Mossberg?

All of my Vanguards are exceptionally accurate, even with factory ammo. I just purchased a second 270 Win and it easily shoots under an inch at 100 yards. In fact, it shoots so well I bought 3 more boxes of the same ammo as it's not worth handloading for that rifle when I have other projects I'm working on .
