Just an update on this rifle.
Last winter I decided to cure the heavy barrel - light stock twitchiness of the rifle and added two pounds of weight.
First I melted down some lead and then spilled it and then melted down some more and poured it into an aluminum tubing as a mold. After it cooled I cut the tubing off the lead and had one inch diameter lead rods.
Then while my wife was gone to work I drilled the stock inside the house where it was warm and then using my favorite tool pounded the rods into the holes.
As the final step I got the vacuum cleaner and sucked up all of the evidence of my misbehavior.
The gun now sit very nicely on the rear bag and once settled does not twitch. Of course it weighs about 18 pounds but I do not mind as shooting antelope does not require long distance carries most of the time.
