First bullet from a clean barrel will not typically go where the fouled barrel shots go. Since we only clean our rifles every 20-100 rounds depending on the case and powder most shots will be fired from a fouled barrel. You should fire 2-3 shots to "foul" the bore. Then shoot groups.
Long range shooting is a process that ends with a result. Once you start to focus on the result (how bad your last shot was, how big the group is going to be, what your buck will score, what your match score is, what place you are in...) then you loose the capacity to focus on the process.
