Sounds much like the .223x30carbine wildcat that was around in the mid 1950's

Nothing like it in fact. This is one of the most underrated rounds out there. Especially as a pistol round where you can get 2500 fps plus with some of its rounds. It is just getting into the varmint realm of use as a cartridge. Really love this round. It performs much better than HK's foray into this type of pdw round which is the 4.6x30. In the subsonic realm, it is even better, if you fancy rolling up on a town with a suppressor. I can't overrate this round as a prairie dog killer.

The far left is the 5.7x28, followed by the 44 Mag, 460 Rowland, 45 ACP, 10mm, 9mm, 380 ACP, 32 ACP, 22LR

Yes the model the 5.7 is coming out in is the m25. I think it's going to be a sweet gun myself. They are also chambering it in the 5.45xwhatever russian military cartridge. Both will be neat guns

I was just thinking, if you threw a 6.5 twist on it and rand 80grainish bullets it might make a cool little subsonic round

I agree and Elite Ammunition makes some great custom sub rounds.

BUT...

Savage brought it out on the wrong action. Way to much pressure with this round for the 25 bolt. Savage rep wouldn't come clean to me until recently. They are looking at it on a different action though. They had a TON of orders for the gun.

Too bad though. Great little round, and an helluva a waste as just a black gun and pistol round.

Wrong.........You are thinking about the Model 40 action, where the bolt handle was the locking lug. The Model 25 is a new action with a three lug, front locking bolt made to take a full high power load.

We need to be careful when we make statements on these board to not damage the reputations of the manufacturers
they did a mod. 25 about 15 years ago. Was to come in 22 hornet and maybe .223. I looked at one, and it basicly the older Mod. 40 setup. I order one, but later cancelled the order over this alone.

You would be surprised the pressures this round operates at in the FiveseveN pistol. Upwards of 50k psi. That is with a blowback gun...
