Savage 270wsm 1-11 twist

Why savage chose such a slow twist for this caliber,i don't know. But i would like to load 150gr bullets for this rifle, specifically noslers new LR bullet. Will a 1-11 24" barrel stabilize these bullets?

A 140 running faster would be hard to beat. The 150 may or may not work.

Yea 140gr would be optimal, but i really wanted to try the new noslers and they only make a 150gr in the LR bullet. I could buy a box and try, but that's wasted money if they don't shoot

Emmagator, with the short bearing surface for weight of these bullets and the muzzle velocity of the 270WSM I really don't think you will have any problem at all shooting those 150AB bullets, if you can find a good load.

Rate of twist isn't the only factor in stabilizing projectiles, a bullet pushed through with higher velocity creates a faster spin, and the higher RPM is what stabilizes the flight of the bullet.

Nosler Accubond Long Range problem

I wouldn't go there with an 11" twist savage 270 wsm barrel..... the o.p. was chasing his tail for a while... I'm having no trouble at all with the 7mm 150 gr alr in my 7mm stw with a 10" twist.
