Re: Savage 111 Long Range Hunter 7mm
7mm what? 7wsm? 7RemMag? 7RUM?
162Amax is a great 7mm bullet. If you're shooting a large capacity cartridge, consider the 180VLD.

7mag has enough case capacity to push the 180VLDs. If you have a 1:9 twist barrel, I would encourage you to give them a try.

Re: Savage 111 Long Range Hunter 7mm
stick with the 162 amax in a 7 RM, it gives up NOTHING to the berger 180. 7 RM doesn't push a 180 fast enough to gain anything in the cartridge with that bullet weight, save the 180s for an STW or RUM.
You are definately headed in the right direction with your soon to be set up.
My pet load for my 7 RM with a 162g amax was 68g of H1000, win case, Fed215s, OAL of 3.450", 2950fps, 1/4-1/2 MOA inside 600 and held 1 MOA at 1K for a factory sporter 700 BDL custom deluxe, prone w/bipod, not to shabby I'd say.
61g RL22 also shot very well but was a bit slower at 2850-2900fps. I also wanted to switch to a Hodgon extreme powder, it turned out to be a good decision in my rifle.

Re: Savage 111 Long Range Hunter 7mm
Thanks, am using the extreme powders because I live in wyoming,, it's nothing to have a 40 deg morning and a 100 degree afternoon, P-Dog shooting.
Have heard/read nothing but good about the A-Max 162. Am hoping this Savage likes them. I'm also thinking of trying them in Daughter's 7mm-08
