That's surprising, because believe it or not, even though they are not the flagship of the Remington fleet, they usually shoot very well. I have two of them , one in 308, like yours, and also a 22-250. Both are 1/2 guns or better. My 308 loves 168 SMK, and also 175 SMK as well. I have shot, 110,150,165,168,175,185, and it shoots them all very well. Big green has had some issues, of recent, but somehow it seems that the SPS line of rifles haven't been effected. The barrel in these rifles, I believe contacts the very end of the forend. Maybe check your action screw torque. It should be about 35 inch / lbs. How doe the barrel feel when you run a patch through it?
Also, try seating your bullet at about 2.820 OAL. That should be near the sweet spot.
