Could you more experienced shooters answer the above for me?
That is... My .223 is 1-12" twist but if I was to get someone to rechamber it with 1-7" so I could shoot heavier bullet, will the barrel last about the same?

I assume you mean that you will have someone "rebarrel" not rechamber your .223.
You do realize that a barrel can not have its rifling twist changed; don't you?
A 7" twist is very fast and would only be needed for bullets that are too heavy for a .223. At least in my opinion. If you are rebarreling, a 9" twist would allow you to shoot the 69gr HPBT or 75gr A-Max.

Barrel life would have very little to do with twist rate in either case. Barrel material, and to some degree the rifling configuration, as well as how hot your loads are will determine these things. Regardless or your path, you got a LOT of shooting ahead before you wear out a .223 barrel.
