4 feet off the ground, that's awesome with a 40g V-max. How much velocity are you getting with it. I am guessing around 4000fps.

Re: recovered 204 40gr V-max

just over 3800,the test came after shooting a large yote with the 204 and not getting the results I was used to with larger calibers.

I LOVE the 204 and shooting it but its not a mid range yote rifle.I`ll stick with the 25 cal 100gr NBT at 3375 for that..

Amen to that!! What powder you going with for that combo?? I love my 25-06. Just worked up a ladder with 100g NBT and IMR-4831. Results look very promising. 52.5g-53.5g produced a .350" group at 200 yards, velocity running from 3320-3375fps. This combo I believe can take yotes out to 800 yards. Have taken them to 600 yards with my 25-06, but none farther, as of yet!

Pretty soon I will be shooting a 125grn Ballistic Tip at 4050 fps out of my 300-WSM project. I will be using a Krieger 30", 1-15 twist barrel. It is absolutely devastating on varmints out to 1000 yards.

I shot a few through Jessica and could only get 3900 with RL22,but I didn`t want to waste bbl life on something I had other rifles for.

I did shoot one groundhog with the 125 at 3900 and it looked like it steped on a land mine.
