Re: Question about the 50 BMG case size

I don't have the exact measurements but I know it's just a big 30-06 case. 5/3rd's a 30-06. I was looking for a 4/3rd's 30-06 case several years back for a wildcat I was thinking on and came across the 505 Gibbs case (needs necked down to be a true 4/3rd's) followed immediately by the 408 CheyTac.

Re: Question about the 50 BMG case size

The case head = 0.804" (Handloader mag)
The shoulder = 0.714" (Handloader mag)

The reference to the BMG size by proportion is 144% larger than the 30-06 Springfield.

Regards.

Re: Question about the 50 BMG case size

My PMC match prepped brass that has been once fired and neck sized measures:

Rim: 0.801"

Head: 0.798"

Shoulder: 0.715"

Milsurplus will vary much more then PMC or IMI brass which is why I use this for my extreme range match loads in the 50 BMG.

Good Shooting!!!
