A bit off the subject but was wondering what the advantage would be of necking down the 408 to 338. Why not just leave it a straight 408. Ballistically it appears the superior round over a 338. I suppose the choice of a factory 300 grain 338 bullet is nice but the 400+ grain 408 bullet that Warren sells has an even higher BC and can still be propelled at over 3,000 fps. That adds up to more long range energy. Just a thought that crossed my mind when reading through this post. Good hunting.
