Re: Pac-Nor barrels??

I had one on a big custom rifle, 28#'s, 1.45" tapering to 1.25" at 32.5", 30/338 Lapua Imp. It shot quite a few .25moa 3 shot groups at 300yds and averaged less than moa 10 shot groups at 1000yds, best was around 8". It copper fouled more than I thought it should but I was shooting a 240gr bullet being pushed by almost 100grs of powder so that might have something to do with it. I think for the money they are a good barrel and would use them again.

Re: Pac-Nor barrels??

Dan,
I have several Pac-Nor barrel's and several other's from Hart to shilen, Pac-Nor is as good or better than any other barrel I have ever tried, 1st rate. I'm sure that your gunsmith will have his own pet brand though.

I have 3 select match ss tubes and they all perform wonderfully.

Re: Pac-Nor barrels??

This year projects I had a Pac-Nor,Shilen and Broughton barrels installed all SS select or super match barrels and was disappointed in the Pac-Nor as I've got their barrels in 22cal and 30cal. This one took abit longer to break in and was tough to clean. Had to double check and make sure it was a super match. I have to say that Broughton is a good barrrel as this was the first time I've used one and the Shilen as always just a good shooter. I have a pretty good understanding with the guy who chambers for me he doesn't have a problem with me getting my own barrels so I'm not locked into his guy. Any future projects I'm going with Broughton,Lilja or Kreiger barrels. In 30 cal I've been shooting a Lilja 3groove 1/10 twist and it's a pretty good one also.

Re: Pac-Nor barrels??

i think Kirby's endorsement sold me, im gonna go with the Pac Nor, gonna order a 28" 4 taper, 3 groove 1-12 twist. should help me squeeze all the velocity i can out of a '06AI. i think im just gonna have them crown thread and short chamber it, then just finish fit and headspace when i get it. according to their site that should run about $324 i think before shipping. that is hard to beat in my book.
thanks for the replies

Re: Pac-Nor barrels??

Dan inWV,

It is no secret that I prefer to use Lilja barrels but for my new Allen Magnums in 257 and 277 that will require 1-8" twists for the very heavy for caliber bullets we will be using, I have several Pac Nor Super Match barrels on order simply because Lilja does not offer these twist rates and the qualtiy of the Pac-Nors is top grade.

So to answer your question, I am willing to stake my rounds and rifles reputation on Pac Nor Super Match Stainless Steel barrels.

Good Shooting!!
