O'Brian Rifle Company

I have a customers rifle which is a Sako and it is marked 17 Magnum. He said it was made by the O'Brian rifle company. Would anyone know if this would be a 17 Fireball?

Any help would be appreciated

Re: O'Brian Rifle Company

It is chambered for the 17-222 Rem Mag.It holds just a bit more powder than the .17 Rem.You can form cases by running 222 Rem Mag cases through a 204 Ruger die then size in a 17-222 Rem Mag die. It's much easier to just run .204 Ruger cases into the .17 die. They are easier to find and cheaper than 222 Rem Mag cases.Mine is getting 4000 fps out of a 20 in barrel with what seems to be mild loads
