Need info on fireforming 338 Lapua Imp

Just curious, is it necessary to fireform 338 Lapua improved brass or is it safe to fire standard Lapua loads in the improved chamber? Is the increased velocity of the Improved version worth the effort?

If its a true 338 Lapua Improved chamber set up properly, its totally safe to shoot stadnard 338 Lapua ammo through it to form cases.

Is the extra 100 to 150 fps worth it, thats your call. Basically puts you in the same class as the 338-378 with around 10 grains less powder capacity.

Kirby, how many grains of powder does the Improved case have over the standard 338 Laupa case.....

You will probably run around 8 to 10% more volume in most cases. Generally around 100 fps more velocity is pretty easy to expect. Sometimes as much as 150 fps.
