Need help for New long range hunting gun

Ok guys here is the deal, I need some help as i am new here. I am sorry for the long first post, but I need a little guidance.
First my intention is to build a poor mans long distant hunting system. I will be useing this weapon for whitetails here in the beanfields of missouri to elk and antelope in wyoming. I am currently shooting a SAKO GREYWOLF chambered in 270 wsm. I have only prcticed out to 575yrds with factory amo, and shoot it fairly well. I have recently aquired some land were I can practce out to 1000yrds. I am ready to start reloading, and shooting out to 1000yrds, but noticed that the bullets for reloading the 270wsm have a poor BC. It seems that with the 7mm mag I could load berger vld 168gr with a bc of .617 . This round should hit harder, shoot flatter, and have less wind drift than anything I can load in the 270 wsm.
Sooo this is what I am considering.... Sell they greywolf in 270 wsm, and buy a remington sendero in 7mm mag. I kind of have my heart set on trying the berger 168 vld, but the website says they recomend the 10 in twist rate. The sendero only has a 9and 1/4 twist rate. Will this work?
I was also lookig at the savage long range hunter compared to the sendero. Whats the thoughts of the experts guys?

The faster twist (1in 9) will not only stabilize the 168 but also the 180 Berger.

I wouldn't write off your 270 wsm just yet if you plan on reloading,i don't think you have a huge amount to gain by going to the 7mm rem mag,what you lose in b.c you will make up in speed with the .270,the 140gr accubond and hornady sst are around .496 bc and the berger 150gr .531 if you can clock around 3200-3300fps with either of these bullets i think you will be sweet,i would even consider a re-barrel to the 7wsm if your heart is set on a 7mm.

What would a good rebarrel job run me for my sako? Also I have heard that the WSM is not as accurate as the standard 7mm mag because the magazine will not allow you to seat the bullet out to the lands of the barrel, like you can the standard 7mm mag. Is there any truth to this?

It is generally held that the closer the projectile is to the lands the more accurate it is, although there are exceptions to this. Barnes like to jump and a number of people state good accuracy with bergers jumping.
With your Sako you could try a two load system. Work up a good long range load and load it single shot. Then work up a magazine load for closer range shots.
I do this with my 7mm mag. 160 accubond in the magazine for quick shots out to 300 yds, then a 168 berger for the longer shots.

A re-barrel job for a sako should be similar to most other makes.

I would not say that the 270 WSM is any less accurate than anything else, I've shoot quite a few groups at 1030yrds that I won't post because the BR guys will get all hurt over it. Trust me if everything is set up for accuracy you'll have no problem holding MOA to the end of it's effective range. Most guys load a 270 for hunting accuracy, well that's all you'll ever get, apply BR loading principles and techniques you'll be amazed by the accuracy that will come.
I can seat bullets into the lands at mag length in my Savage just fine but your not looking for that in a hunting load anyway. I have a 270 WSM reamer set up so I should be .010 ish of the lands and loaded at max mag length so I have no problem maximizing it in my rifle. Don't know the mag specs on the Sako so I can't really help you out on that.
If your not reloading your 270 WSM you have barely tapped it's potential. I would spend money on reloading and learning on wind reading!

If you run a 150 Berger at 3200 in a 270 WSM and a 168 Berger in a 7mm @ 3050fps 300yrd zero at 6000ft elevation, numbers at a 1000yrd are: 1780 fps and 1839fps, energy: 1056 and 1252 ft lbs path MOA: 18.5 and 19.
Nothing I shoot would know the difference!
