Last I heard from Kirby he was using BAT M receivers for his 338 AM, BAT HRPIC receiver for his 338AX and for the Edge the Borden Timberline Magnum receiver. I don't think you can go wrong with most of the actions previously mentioned.

Ok, I gotta ask,, What is a 'Lapua Action'?

I believe a BAT RS would make a good hunting action.

+1 for the Defiance action. Very good people. Visited with them in person, their shop is just down the road. They say that if there is any thing not perfect about the machining of their action they want it back, and will replace it.

PS. Same place as Phoenix with one less partner.

When the term "Lapua action" is used it's generally meant to define an action that will handle the rim/base diameter of a Lapua cartridge. For example a BAT action that can handle a 338 Lapua will also handle a 378 Weatherby but it is still a BAT action.

Is this just a 338LM thing?

Mikecr, not sure if I understand what you mean by: Is it just a 338LM thing? If you mean a BAT action just for 338LM the answer is no as BAT makes actions for quite a few cartridges. Don't know if that answers your question or not...if not then maybe you can elaborate a little more.
