Re: Low recoil long range cartridge
Temp was 58*F. Interesting difference. You made sure to use G1 profile..? I have never used Shooter, so am in the dark with its settings etc.

Re: Low recoil long range cartridge
@3150, 58*F., 20% humidity, 2600 ASL, I am getting 1406 fps @ 1k yards.
Interesting difference for sure...

Re: Low recoil long range cartridge
I would think that the 6.5x284 would fit the bill well. With 140 VLD's at 3000 FPS, very low recoil, highly accurate, and will cleanly take down deer sized game out to 1000 yards.

Re: Low recoil long range cartridge
I used to have a 300WM, that I sold to my brother - in - law, that would only shoot 165gr Barnes TSX. That loading was IMR7828SSC, Win brass, Win LR primers (non mag). With that loading, and only that loading, it would hammer 5 @ 100y into about 5/8" - 3/4". I never did get that gun to shoot bergers. For that matter the only other bullet it would shoot at all was the 175gr SMK, and that was 3/4 to 1" @ 100.
Then again my 6.5x55BJAI shoots the 130gr bergers pretty well these days Well, not these days so much as I finally shot the barrel out.. :P But for well over 1500 rounds of berger 130s... ||

If you put in elevation and station pressure it will give you way better results than reality. If you input station pressure the elevation should be zero.
