What does 7.62.39 have to do with an LR-308 They're 7.62x51.
Magpul makes the PMAG 20LR, a 20 round 7.62x51 magazine for the Knights SR-25/M110 rifles. SR-25 magazines are supposed to be interchangable with DPMS LR-308 magazines, but I haven't tried the PMAG 20LR in LR-308s.

I must have misunderstood your post. I thought you were mentioning the 7.62x39 as an example, then getting back onto the subject that we're talking about with the 308's.

I also thought when you said don't even mention Cproducts mags that you were refering to them because that's who makes them for the DPMS 308's and until magpul got into the game were the only other option for any DPMS 308 rifles.

The DPMS 308's magazines prices have been dropping like rocks since the pmags came out and I think that's a huge help to that system now that magpul has given them a competitor.

As far as 7.62x39 magazines go I'm not familiar with them at all and don't know what's available.

Sorry about the confusion. I was mentioning the 7.62x39 because shooting pigs was in the OP and the AR-15 with 7.62x39 upper is a great alternative to the .308 AR-25/AR-10 out to about 300 yds.

I wont interrupt anymore, carry on!

Re: Looking DPMS .308 what do u think?

I'm glad I read this thread. I hadn't been aware of Magpul magazines for 308s. After reading it I called Magpul tech support and thy assured me that although it's designed for the SR-25 it's compatible with the LR-308.

So I ordered some Midwayusa. I don't expect them to be compatible with the 300 SAUM DPMS LRs and not sure about the 6.5 Creedmoor but I'll find out soon. I expect them to work with the 243 Win, 260 Rem, and 338 Federal which have about the same shape cases as a 308 Win. I'll find that out too.

The Magpul 20 round magazines arrived. They fit the LR-308 receivers nicely and fall free when the magazine release is pressed. The DMPS mags fall as freely.

The Magpuls fit to all of the 308 based cartridges IF the cartridge OALS are are no longer than the 2.80 SAAMI spec. That includes the 243 Win, 260 Rem, 308, and 338 Federal. There is very little additional clearance for length The 6.5 Creedmoor 140 grain AMax is right at the 2.80 limit (measured 2.7985), but it clears. The factory DPMS metal mags do have more clearance as they can handle handle 300 SAUM cartridgs which have a 2.825 SAAMI max length (Factory 190 grain Remington cartridges measure 2.8190 and they don't fit the magpul case for lengh. The DPMS mags can offer a littel advantage when trying to squeeze a bit more perfomance from VLD bullets. The magpuls dont seem to like the diameter ether. I didn't ry shorter 300 SAUM load because I don't have any made up. But then, no one said they should fit. The DPMS factory mags use a different plastic follower for the SAUM cartridges but it's the same metal for both. The DPMS SAUM follers wouldn't fit (or help) the Magpul magazines.

The Magpuls are lighter at 5.5 oz empy verssus 8.1 oz for the DPMS 20 round mag.

I haven't shot with the Magpuls yet but I don't expect a problem.
