You mentioned 500 yards. Last summer I killed a woodchuck at 675 yards with my 22 CHeetah MK 1. It pushes a 52gr bullet at 4280 FPS. You could ask any of the 3 guys from Williamsport, that were with me, how it works. It shoots very flat and is deadly accurate. I would say that 700 yards is about maximum for it. Out to 400 yards, its almost automatic. As an exaample, at 100 and 200 yards I don't adjust elevation at all and at 300 yards I adjust 1" up on the target knob. Thats pretty flat shooting. On a good day, when I am not shaking to bad, it posts 5 shot groups of 3/4" at 300 yards.
