typical terrain
typical wind conditions
typical shooting distance
typical carry distance
barrel specs
bullet specs
brake specs
typical game ( elk or prairie dogs)
typical transport (feet or jeep).
typical shooting style (offhand, bipod, bench).

To me rifle weight only indicates the practicality of carrying a rifle, and even that depends on the terrain. Of my various rifles weight says little about their useful range or accuracy or even delivered energy.

rifle #2 - 338 edge 7.5 lbs naked

Custom 7 SAUM with Surgeon short action single shot, 28" Brux barrel, Manners T2 stock, CSR break, Burris Extreme rings, and Leupold Mark 4 6.5-20x50mm. Weighing 15#, per bathroom scale. It's easily carried in an E-stock X1.
