Holy Crap! Seriously savage?

My friend recently bought a savage 116 with accustock in 300 win. mag. I Told him I would work up a load for him with his 180 TTSX since I already have dies for 300 win. Well we got it broke in and I went out and got my powder charge worked up then loaded some shells to try out a group. First of all the thing feels great to shoot. I had taken it apart to see what the accustock was all about seems very cool so I wcouldnt wait to see how it grouped. Well I went out last night to test the first load for accuracy the first shot was low and to the right. the second shot and the third shot I could not even see so I had no clue where they were. I walked up there and HOLY COW SAVAGE! .159 3 shot group at 100 yards!! that rivals my custom 338 Lapua! I sent the picture to my friend and he is obviously exstatic! I will be buying a savage accustock next time I purchase a production rifle. I am jealous to say the least!

a five shot group like that will win 75% of the benchrest matches anywhere in North America! And the TTSX bullet is not a match quality bullet! Very impressive!

Just a thought, but I think it would be appropriate to email that pic to Barnes.

Re: Holy Crap! Seriously savage?

Just got a savage 6.5x284 long range hunter for my daughter. No barrel break-in. First load I tried shot 3/4" at 100 yrds then at 600yrds the bullet landed 1-1/2" from my POI. Hopefully we'll find a deer tonight.

TM,
Great shooting! Savage is definitely a value in production rifles.
It is always nice when load development works out quickly.
What is your load for those 180's?
