Out of my sons 300 win he shoots them at 2775 fps. and it is a 10 twist. Not sure where it goes transonic. I have no data on hand with transonic groups using the 230's. But I have shot the 300 gr 338 Hybrid OTM's transonic many times and they were very impressive.

Re: Highest BC bullet for a 30-378??

I shoot the 230 Berger Match HT bullet out of my 300 win mag at 2788 fps, using 75 grs of Viht N570 powder. I have a 1:8 twist. Yesterday I shot at 1755 yards, and the bullets dropped at the rock I was aiming for, with no problems. My coal is 3.740 inches. I have a Tikka T3 Super Varmint, and the mag can not handle the long cartridge I singele feed all my rifles even when hunting, as I try not to stress, and allways ensure that my first shot is good. So far so good

I am going hunting in Scotland in may, using this rifle and bullet, I will let you know how it performs when I return.

You will probably do OK with the 10 twist especially out of a 30-378. But IMO, a 9 twist would be better, especially if you are at lower elevations. When I input the numbers for a RUM into the Berger twist calc for my worst case of 3000 fps, 3000' elevation and 0* temp with a 10 twist, it comes up with a SF of 1.39 and Berger recommends a 1.5 which is standard for hunting rounds. A 1.1 or better is usually good for paper punching but less than 1.5 can lead to unstable terminal ballistics.

I have read that Tim North from Broughton Barrels is recommending the 9 twist for the 230 Hybrid either from personal experience or customer experience.
