Highest BC 6.5 ?
Does anybody know what the highest bc 6.5 caliber QUALITY bullet is? I have to exclude Lost River from this because I can't afford load development with them.
I believe the Berger at .62 is the highest I know of.

Re: Highest BC 6.5 ?
I believe the Lapua Secnar is about .660 but pretty expensive. I'm going to go with Hornady AMAX at .618 or Berger at .627. I might also formulate my own BC's by chronographing the average of 10 rounds at 10' and 10 rounds at 100 yards and using ballistic software to calculate the real BC.

Re: Highest BC 6.5 ?
Frank,
A program I hve says the 140 Berger is .633, 140 A-Max is .550 and a 142 SMK is .595. Hope that helps ya some.
I just looked and my Oehler Ballistic Explorer program and it says an A-Max comes in a 140gr .618 bc cat# 26322 and a 145gr .550 bc cat# 26332. Just so you know if you didn't already.

How about Clinch river? I have heard they are very accurate but that is all I have heard.

Frank
I think both the Clinch River 147 and the JLK 140(B) (Yes he has an A and B models) are over .600.
bottom line is BC for the custom bullets and VLDs is not going to be radically different. Key on which one shoots the best in your gun. Sierras will require much more hand sorting than Clinch River or JLK, I can tell you that much. Out of my last 500 JLKs, ended up with 4 groups: two large ones with about 200-230 each in and two small groups of about 20-40 bullets as sighters, etc.

Re: Highest BC 6.5 ?
6.5 Berge have very hiht BC but jacket are made from J4 and are not vey strong
for hight velocity (over 3000 fps ) 139 gr Lapua are very fine but the old Lapua FMJ 144 gr have a beter bc ( around 0.63 )
new Norma 130 gr have BC around 0.55 but loghter weight allow you to launch t highter velocity
FORGET Lost River if you take care of your barrel
Cauterico and Clinch River are very good but dlivery time are very long
good shooting
