Got some nice results at the range last night

I have a Browning A-Bolt stainless stalker 7mm That has always shot really well but only with overpressured loads so I always just dealt with the fact that I had short brass life. Then a few years ago I started using Barnes bullets and have had such great accuracy with them I decided to try them in the 7mm. After several different powders I was kinda getting the same results and getting frustrated, then Finally I decided to try RL25, I found my pressure, seated the Bullets .050 off the Lands and went to go shoot some groups. These groups are only 3 shot groups at 100 yards, but they show me I have finally found the sweet spot. The first group is Cold clean Bore and measures at .413" the second group is fouled warm bore and measures at .069

Dang Mike sweet. In your experience, when loading the barnes bullets do you find seating depth to be a huge factor?

Ican, No i really haven't infact the only barnes that i have used that was sensitive to sesting depth was the 200LRX. they have a slightly different ogive than the tsx family. I usually just seat them 050 off the lands or to fit the magazine what ever the case may be. My dad has had great luck with them in his weatherby's with their short magazines and excessive freebore.

I also use a large amount of Barnes. I've only had one issue with seating depth causing a significant problem. A good friend & local gun shop owner was playing with the TSX in his 338-378WBY, being new to Barnes (Nosler guy), he had them seated (IIRC) at the lands. That particular rifle absolutely refused to group better than 1.5 or 2.0 @ 100yds, poor guy was Uber frustrated... to the point he actually sold the rifle. He & I stated discussing the issue (after the sale), he told me where he had them seated, I recommended jumping them .050 etc, etc.... he in now using the TSX in a couple different rifles to great success utilizing the info provided right there in the box of bullets

I've used or still do use, Barnes bullets in calibers ranging from the 80TTSX in a 6mmAI all the way to a 500grn TSX in a 458Lott & several in between. Most are seated to max magazine length & worked up accordingly. I haven't failed yet.

Well thanks to both of you. I have a box of the 200g TTSX I am going to give them a go in my 300 wsm. But I need to get some other things in order first.
