few questions 338-378wby

I have an accumark coming in 338-378wby. I also got a great deal on 80 pieces of 30-378 as well as 80 pieces of 338-378.

Is it possible to neck up the 30-378 and use it interchangeably with the 338-378 brass? As in can I load up 50 with the same powder, primers, bullets and expect the same acuracy from the loads with the necked up 30-378 and 338-378?

I am also looking for a hunting bullet to use out to 1000. Any recomendations? Deer, black bear, elk and moose.

    Busse fan,

Yes . . . and no. Yes, you can neck up the 30-378 brass to .338, but no, you probably won't want to use it "interchangeably" with the other factory 338-378 brass. It may work just fine, probably will in fact. But it's still a different lot (at the least) and is likely to have somewhat different neck wall thicknesses, different neck tensions, capacities, etc.. I've necked up 30-378 cases to use in the 338-378, but I never mixed brass. Keep them separate, treat them as individual lots, and you'll get better results all the way around.

Thanks for the reply. Will keep them separate. Any advice on a hunting bullet? Thinking 250gr actions right now.

I used it strictly as a target cartridge, never for hunting. Probably several options available there, but I can't comment on these from any experience.

I really like the 300 gr SMK in the 338-378 it really hammers game. 250 gr accubonds are great too just not as good way out there.

Is there a better choice out to 1000for hunting than the 250 accubonds? Not so much interested in super expensive CE bullets etc. I don't think I need a 300gr under 1k. Was thinking about the 250 berger hybrid but read reports about them having closed tips and terminal performance problems As a result.

    Thanks
