Custom action what ifs
If you were in the market for a custom action (and could design it yourself) what would be your criteria in order of importance and why?
The following are just some things off the top of my head
stainless vs chromo
integral rail yes/no
scope mount types
ejection port configuration
integral lug yes/no (If yes what size)
weight
2, 3, 4, ?? number of lugs
push feed vs crf
bolt stop style (Rem,Sako,Nesika, other)
bolt knob
ejector,extractor types
full round/octagonal/flat/elliptical/fluted/lightened...
COAL accomodations
etc...

Re: Custom action what ifs
I will add a little more information about this post by Learning.
I have been bouncing some ideas off of some of the local guys about a new action that we will be producing. Scott (Learning) is one of the guys that has showed some interest and offered input.
Some of the things that we are talking about are as follows:
Bolt, 3 lug front and 1 rear. Benefits include short bolt throw, more evely distributs load on the bolt and strength.
Cone style lug face.
Proper ejection angle. Sako or Ar style extractor
Integrated recoil lug. Longer tention.
Fits in Remington inlet stocks.
Uses Remington trigger.
Side bolt stop.
3" oal for short action, 3.9 for long action.
Solid top for rigidity.
Any input will be appretiated.

Re: Custom action what ifs
Gentlemen,
While you are still in the concept phase; I have a couple of questions. 1.) Which style or type of safety would you use? 2.) On a fully custom receiver why the Remington trigger?
No criticism or disagreement intended just seeking enlightenment.

Re: Custom action what ifs
Remington trigger? Many options for after market triggers. Also the bolt will use remington style striker assembly.
Standard safety will be remington style, with a 3 position winchester style as an option.

Re: Custom action what ifs
My opinion:
c. moly
3 pos safety
sako type extractor
nesika style drop bolt
not too big ejection port
integrated 20 moa rail
rem style trigger system
3 lugs...., external diameter flush with bolt diameter
