Chrony results on 22-250 ammo

I shoot a 22-250 a lot down here, use it for everything from Coyotes to hogs. I have used the Remington ammo (green box) for years, in the 55 gr soft point.

I needed to find out the exact velocity that ammo was producing so I could customize my turrets on the Viper PST scope. This was in a Kimber mod 84 with 24" barrel.

3350
3365
3380
3475

As you can see the actual velocity of this ammo is 200-300 below factory advertised specs of 3650.

Has anyone else used this ammo and found this kind of performance with it? What factory ammo actually performs as advertised?

Thanks for your imput.

Over the years I have found that none of the advertized velocities match with what we get, and what they say! Like you state, 200-300 fps lower.
And this is with max loads for many different rifles.

FYI I shot my Rock River .308 (26" bull) with Federal Gold 168 grain ammo and
    here are the results:

    2645
    2650
    2670

Listed velocity for that ammo is 2650. It was right whrere advertised and had about as little variance as yopu could expect even from hand loads!

High velocities make for good advertisement. I'm not saying that they lie about their velocities, just saying that they shoot longer barrels than most of hunt with. Some of the manufacturer's also use universal receivers to test their loads. that's why we have to shoot the factory loads over a chronograph so we can show you what they shoot in our personal firearms.
