U have been using remington brass to re-load my .270, 7mm stw, 8mm rem. mag and 243.
I guess I've never asked myself the question until now if there was a difference in the types of brass out there. I see there is quite a price jump if you want to go with Nossler custom or Lapua so one would assume that there is a difference in performence.
What are some suggestions from you guys out there?
Would the higher magnum pressures be better off in better brass or does it not matter? Is one empty case the same as the next?
Well its like this, remington just plain sucks and nosler isn't much better but a little. Nosler is more consistent in terms of weight and thickness. Winchester, Norma, Lapua, RWS, Quality Cartridge, they are all much better unless you can find some federal from the mid 90s stamped Federal instead of FC.
I have been loading remington and winchester brass for 222,223,243,30-30,270,25-06,30-06 and have found that the brass needs triming after two firings. I haven:t tried shoulder bumping them yet. The nosler brass in the 25-06 has only needed neck resizing on four firings. For me the better brass works out to be cheaper in the long run.
