Blue Patch

What reside will leave the patch blue? Im using Tetra to clean my guns and I have a used .243 I'm trying to get clean and end up having a blue colored patch and not sure if this is copper or what. any thoughts? Seems Ive read somewhere in the past something about this. Tetra really has a strong smell of ammonia. I dont get the color when I use #10 or Shooters choice.

Re: Blue Patch

copper will come out blue when useing an ammonia based solevent.just don't let it stay in the barrel no more that 10-15 min.and wipe out behind it with one of your other solevents.this will stop/clean out the ammonia based solevent.

Re: Blue Patch

Yep, that would be copper.

Keep doing until it no longer appears.

The clean every 20 shots or end of season which ever occurs first.

The amount of blue color per shot is indication of barrel fouling tendencies.
