Best way to clean action

OK, I have searched and not found a specific thread on cleaning an action. As with everything else there are tools aplenty out there. What is the way to do this without scratching or wearing out anything important in there?

Thanks.

Im just a little confused on what you are asking? You just want to clean your action?

Are you asking what products people use?

Or are you asking how to smoth up your action?

Just how to clean it. What methods work best and particularly what "traditonal" methods may be harmful.

Re: Best way to clean action

Hint on how to make a chamber/action cleaning tool.

Obtain old aluminum or carbon arrow, size is not important. Cut it off at about 16-18 inches, while leaving the threaded arrow insert in the end of the arrow.

Get a wood/plastic file handle and drill a hole in it just big enough for the end of the arrow to go in where the file goes. Glue arrow in the handle

Depending on size of your chamber, get either a 357 or 45 caliber Kleen Bore or Montana extreme heavy plastic bore brush and put in the end of the tool. Do not use a brass bristle brush.

Use large shotgun cleaning patches. They will stay on the plastic brush, reach every nook and cranny inside the action and chamber and rails etc.

Simple matter to easily take them off, that is why you do not use the brass bristle brushes.

Or you can buy one from several mftrs for about $30 vs under $5 to make yourself.
