Re: Barrel Length Question
Based on my experience, I would expect an average increase of around 25 fps for each inch of barrel.

Re: Barrel Length Question
Dakor,
The barrel is Rem standard sporter weight barrel like those on the 7mm RUM and 300 RUM. Very light for such a caliber but makes a great walking rifle.
It is pretty pissy off the bench and I do not mind a little recoil. Top handloads drove the 260 gr Partition to 3150 fps and the 300 gr Partition to 2850 fps. Both get your attention but with this much power they are going to come back a little.
The Rem 700 LSS rifle that it originally was probably weighted 7.5 lbs, far to light for this class of round but again, you could pack it all day.
Accuracy wise, I would say this barrel was an honest 1 1/4 moa rifle. Some loads might have averaged a little tighter then this but for this heacy of a recoiling rifle I was satisfied with the factory barrels accuracy.
If it were one of my rifles I certainly would not have been happy but this is right there for a factory tube and machining.
Good Shooting!!!

Re: Barrel Length Question
Thanks for the offer Fifty but I think I will have to pass on it. I have a 375 dia barrel orderd from Lilja so I guess if I do not get what I want out of it I will look at making it into a 375 H&H Ackley. Thanks for the help everyone!

Re: Barrel Length Question
Dakor,
You will not be disappointed with the Lilja as long as it is fitted properly, it will shoot extremely well.
Good Shooting!!!
