Bad trade/buy Experience and Needing Stock Advice

Looking for a synthetic replacement stock for my Remington 700 BDL in .300 Win Mag. I particularly like the "spider web" style stocks but am open to other opinions as this will be my first time swapping stocks. I want something fairly lightweight so I can haul it on long hikes on Elk trips, etc. The reason I decided to swap stocks is because I am unhappy with it's current factory wood stock. Back story on the rifle: I purchased the rifle in "excellent" condition from Branwill25 off here, here is the thread:

Notice a difference between his pictures and mine? Me too. Unfortunately, Brandon stuck to his claim that I received exactly what was described and was unwilling to give a partial refund or even return the item. Lesson learned, next time when buying a rifle on the net I'll get more detailed photos :-/. Anyways, thanks for any advice in advance!

A couple dings from use and the sights are removed. I might not call it excellent, but I would expect to see some handling marks on anything that wasn't new.

I'd put a nice laminate or B&C Carbelite from Stocky's on it.

Yup...I would be a little upset about that but then again, I always ask if there are any scratches or anything wrong with the gun.

It is definitely NOT in excellent condition and the pictures he posted are a little misleading.

Far from excellent and definitely beyond "normal handling" marks as well. We have some 700's that are over 25 years old (this one was produced 1984) that have been used well over 100 times, mostly in the WV mountains, with way less marking. If you look at the front cap there is a ~1.5" blemish where it looks like some type of corrosive liquid was spilled on the stock. The front sling mount has a large indention all the way around it where I'm assuming a bipod had been mounted. The sights have been removed, yes, but they left a horrible mark AND there is a screw broken off in the front sight hole that was, of course, undisclosed. Base plate, trigger guard, and front of barrel have scratches/finish worn off. The only handling marks I don't have a problem with are where he obviously work a knife clipped or something similar on the same side he was carrying the rifle.

My point exactly, he intentionally hid the damage and clearly stated "excellent" condition. IIRC, he also implied only 10-20 rounds have been fired from this rifle. Either he just tossed it in the closet after a hunt or this thing has seen MUCH more daylight then he stated.

I think the condition was a little misleading it has definatley seen some use. One way to look at it when you buy lemons you can always make lemonade,you have a good platform for a future build.

My point was, any term used to describe anything other than new is subject to interpretation.
