I have one gun that detests any premium ammo, on the other hand any old cheapo ammo it really loves, kinda funny.

Re: Which ammo companies have you had exceptional accuracy with?

Usually if I want factory ammo for a rifle it's federal ammo. Sub moa in every rifle I've worked with. Rem is a good if they use others bullets, I've seen groups from a 7mag with core-locts that looked like a shotgun put them there. My 300 Ultra(rem 700 bdl lh) shoots sub moa with rem swift scirocco 180's in the full throttle load.
I use hornady 300 gr fp's in my open sighted '95 in 405, and it's around 2" groups on a 10" bull at 100. Not bad at all for the resolution.
We had good results with pmc at one time in 300 win, but it looks as though they aren't putting rifle ammo out in many calibers anymore. 1/2" 100 yard groups in 300 win were big for this stuff in 150 grain. Natchez shooter supply has some pmc.

Re: Which ammo companies have you had exceptional accuracy with?

While on the positive side of this subject, I feel I should mention a negative experience I had with a factory made ammo supplier.....

PPU. I bought 100 rounds of .338 Lapua in PPU from Cabelas for breaking in my .338 Savage and the ammo is junk. It exhibits hard, non igniting primers.

While it's cheaper than even Hornady .338, it's unreliable.

The end of the story on crap ammo is good however. After some intense letter writing to Cabelas and the ammo supplier, I was refunded all the money I paid for the junk.

Went and bought some real (HSM) in 338 for break in rounds....

I have a few calipers 270, 6mm, 7mm, 7.08, 243

Consistently, after shooting many rounds through each with various manufacturers bullets, the best overall at least in my rifles is Federal Premium in Nosler Partitions, and AccuBond.

270, 130 grain partitions
6mm, 100 grain partitions
7.08 140 grain accubonds
7mm 140 grain Accu Bond
243 100 Grain nosler partitions

The ballistic tips shoot well also but wanted 1 bullet for deer and elk and not have to re sight for out west if the opportunity to elk hunt presented itself again.

check out CopperCreek and SouthWest Ammo.

both are excellent for accruacy and consistency lot to lot- at a fair price.
