Accubonds for Elk...

Need advice on bullet weight?

Rifle Remington, .300 Win Mag.

I shoot 200 grain Accubonds and really like the bullet,
however...this load is for a friend and he was thinking a lighter bullet.
Speciffically 180 grain Accubonds, or even 150 grain.
Shooting will be under 500 yards.

Thanks

180 Accubond...that is all he will need.

I used to shoot the 200's out of my .300WM, but went to the 180's a couple of years ago. Bullet is superb for the application.

Thanks: 300winnie

Would you care to share you load data,
...I must admit to being partial to IMR4350.
I'll go do the ballistic work up now,
but...would be interested as to what you use?

RL22 or 4831 are the go to powders for the 300WM.

Re: Accubonds for Elk...

I am shooting the 180 grain Accubond over 76.0 grains of RL22 lit up by a Fed 215M all housed in a WW case.

Out of my Browning Stainless Stalker I'm getting an average of 3,162 fps and sub moa groups.

As always, start low and work up. Good luck.

Re: Accubonds for Elk...

I shoot the 200 in a Win case, Fed 215M primer, 73.2gr Re22 for 2945 fps half MOA groups.

Great damage on a bull at 683 yds, though he just stood there like he wasn't even being hit (shot him 4 times due to this).

ATH...
Good Shootn',
he must have been in shock!

I'm going to load a 100 rounds of 180 grain Accubonds,
...as that is what he wants.
I would like to use Lapua brass...
but, again will defer to the less costly Winchesters brass,
I don't think there is much difference.
Also, will use the Federal 215M primers.
Powder...hmmm not sure yet,
seems the Reloader is gaining in popularity!!
I use redding bushing dies,
guess i'll probably need a new bushing for different brass.
Anyone want to give me the short method on Length Overall,
how far off the lands????

Thanks all...for your response!

Bruce
