Just been reading this thread and decided it would be the best place to ask some questions I have.
Just purchased a 8x68s Mauser 66 to shoot mainly fallow deer (and wabbits) at 6 to 800m. Recieved dies, talley rings and limbsaver this week and am in the process of machining up a brake and scope mount rail, scope is still at least 4 weeks away.
The question I have is for a load using nosler 180g bt and AR2213sc.
The only load data I have is for AR2209 from the ADI powders guide and my ancient speer reloading manual dose not list this round also other data from the hornaday #6 manual that I have found on line only lists loads for the 200g and up projectiles.
This rifle like many euro rifles was obviously throated for round nose projectiles and last night I set up a case to find a seating depth, dropped a projectile down the bore and measured as I could not seat the projectile far enough out of the case to find the rifling, have set the projectile in the case now with a 5mm
jump to the lands. do they make any high BC RN's
. A mob over here make a 8mm 175g copper projectile Aussie Custom Projectiles Aussie Custom projectiles
for the same price as the noslers and will give them a go as well, if all else fails then I will try 200 to 220grainers.
