Talking 7mmSTW ???

I have a 30" 1 in 9" twist barrel on my 7mm STW I'm going to try Berger VLDs. I called Berger today and asked if it would handle the 180 VLD bullets and they said the 180's recommeneded barrel is the 1 in 9: twist.

My question is have any of you had any experience with this type of barrel twist and the 180 VLD's?

Any and all info is welcome!

Thanks,
Chuck

I have used 180 JLK's, 180 Bergers, and 175 SMK's with a 1-9 twist Douglas barrel chambered in 7mm Rem Mag Imp.
It is a MOA Maximum specialty pistol but it does just fine with all of the above.

No hands-on expierence but i've did a lot of reading on the big 7mm's and heavy bullets.

I've read more than once that the 1-9.25 twist browning a bolts and remington 1-9.25 will shoot the 180grainers just fine.

Also i believe a 7mm rum will shoot the 200gr wildcats and it has a 1-9.5 twist.

The 1-9 twist should work out fine....I have no problems stabilizing them in a 1-9 twist 29" broughton in 7mm STW.

The only powder I have tried is H1000. Seemed like I hit around 3200 fps at started to get an ejector mark. I might give Retumbo a try next. I have not done alot of work with the 180's. I have several box's of 168's to go through before I get serious with the 180's, and I have my new 7mm AM to play with now.
