7 mm STW Loads
Thanks to all who posted some loads last time. I'm finally getting my equipment in the mail. Do have a question some of you guys were loading over 80 grains for the 140's. Looking at the books and couldnt find any loads that high. The guy who built my rifle also worked up a load with 140 accubonds, IMR 4831 with 74.5 gr and claims it was holding between .5 and .75. Havent shot them yet was saving them for killing until i could start loading. Would love to keep that kind of accuracy but get it up around 3400 to 3500 Any thoughts

Re: 7 mm STW Loads
IF you have a cronograph, you can work up in .5g or 1g increments to that velocity, if its safe in your rifle, and work around there. Cronographs are a great piece of equipment. Dont pay much attention to books, there just a reference guide.

Re: 7 mm STW Loads
my load of 86 gr of H-1000 behind the 140 will shoot under 1/2" about every time for a 3 shot group have a couple in the .2's. it runs 3550 fps out of a 1/9 #5 lilja 28" long.
only pressure sign I get is a slightly flattened primer (but was told by a ballistic tech at sierra that this is normal with fed. primers due to the soft cup) I can use up to 88 gr if I have fireformed brass that run just over 3600 fps with slightly flattened primers but its just not needed.
Hodgdon #27 calls for a starting load of 81 and max of 85.5 of H-1000 for a 139 gr.AA's load for 8700 runs from 84.6 to 94 gr.

Re: 7 mm STW Loads
Anyone try the IMR 4831 or H4831 or H4831sc and run it up to 80+ grains. Speaking of chronos got a 'Pro Chrono' from a buddy but he lost the wings that set up on top where can i get replacements..plus i think it needs some looking at..thnx

Re: 7 mm STW Loads
IMO - Speed is good for varminting. I don't use my 7stw wildcat for varminting. I used to only shoot 175 spbt's Now i also use the "Wildcat 200 VLD's"
I have never had an elk stop the 175's at out to 400 yards. I would guess that at close range a 140 would really tear up a small deer.

Re: 7 mm STW Loads
I used 140 Accubonds for two seasons and also 160 Accubonds. My load for the 140's was 86grains of H-1000. I was getting around 3426fps. The 140 Accubonds hold together very well even up close on deer. My load for the 160's was 82grains of H-1000 and I was getting around 3256fps. This was out of a Remington Sendero. I liked both bullets but for some reason when the ranges got over 400 yards the 140's shot way better so I mostly used those. I would stick with powders like R-22, Imr-7828, H-1000 or slower yet in the STW. You will find you will get better accuracy with the slower powders.

Re: 7 mm STW Loads
94 gr of WC 872 nets around 3325 fps with the 160 accubonds but watch it in hot weather
