7-375 ruger or 7 lrm ????

I have been reading alot on the forum lately. I really enjoy it and longrange hunting myself. I am currently crippled up do to hand surgery so I spend most my time on the internet. I was really interested in hearing about people wildcatting the 375 ruger case to 7mm or as aronn is calling his a 7lrm. I was wondering if there was any load data available for this or any specs on getting a reamer for one. I was really interested in having my local gunsmith make one for me. I like the idea of the longer neck but how long is it? are there any case dimensions available? I currently have a 7mm ultra sendero that shoots awesome but has to be near its last legs for barrel. I shoot 98.5 grains of retumbo and get 3525fps with 160 accubonds and stillhold just under 1/2 moa but everyone is shocked at that speed. The gun was used when I got it but has always shot the accubonds good.
Thanks everybody, I really enjoy the forum

there are reamers(pacific) out there but you are not going to get 3500 out of a 160 with it i get 3200 with 160 accu bonds and my loads are right at max if not over. mine is built on a rem 700 action 28" lilja barrel and axiom bedded stock and shoots 1/4 moa at 300 yds and the recoil is real nice and with a brake it is like a 243 or less. rick

Re: 7-375 ruger or 7 lrm ????

I understand it is not the ultra mag. I wasn't expecting to get 3500 with this gun. I am hoping for 3100-3150 with 180's. I was about to build a 7 wsm hoping to get the most out of it I could but 3100 with 180s is what i'm hoping for. I have a 7 and 300 ultra mags so I don't need that big.
Thanks for the info on pacific though.

How long of a barrel are you looking at using? I have a 7mm Dakota with a 26" barrel and 3100 to 3200 is what I am getting with 168 grain bullets. I figure that I will only be able to get about 3050 fps without pressure signs using the 180 grainers. I think 3100 fps will result in flattened primers and a stiff bolt. The Dakota has slightly more case capacity than the LRM.

Re: 7-375 ruger or 7 lrm ????

i think you should be abile to get that out of a 180 hybrid if you use a slow enough powder i talked with mike at gun werks about theres and the get 3100 something with the lrm. my gun was designed for 140's and smaller bullets(11to1) so i have not tried the 180s. but i do get real good speeds out of the gun with the 145lrx barnes and 1/4 in moa at 300yds with the 145s and 1/4 in at 300 with the 160 accu bonds. the only reason i dont use a berger 140 in mine is i cant get them to stablize at 3200 plus and they come apart they dont like my freebore. rick

I was a little afraid of that elk taxi. I am going with a 26-27 inch barrel. My 7 ultra will not shoot any of the Bergers and after reading I think I was trying to push them way too fast. if it only reaches 3050 with the 180's that will be great. Thanks for the help

The LRM holds approx. 93 grains and has a .330" neck from what I've been told. The 7 Dakota should hold around 95-96 grs. My new 30/375 S.I. holds 95 grs. The LRM has a 30 degree shoulder which is pushed back approx. .100" +- from the 375 Ruger. Mine has a 40 degree shoulder which is pushed back approx. .080" and the body taper is blown out a little. If you go with a straight 7/375 Ruger, you will end up with a VERY short neck; probably less than .250"........Rich
