6mm-257 Weatherby?

Just wondering if anyone out there has tried this wildcat with a fast(1-8") twist barrel for longer range varmint/small whitetails with heavy for caliber bullets? Curious of results, barrel life, terminal performance.
Thanks
Daniel

Re: 6mm-257 Weatherby?

Just sold one of these rifles, check the guns for sale section.

Rifle was shooting the 95 gr bullets with Retumbo powder. Barrel life was poor at best...

I certainly would not build another one again as there are better choices for the fast 6mm's with much better barrel life.

Took the words out of my mouth Judd..

I have a custom 240 Wby with a 9 tw barrel that shoots the 105 gr bullets at 3380 fps. A great long range varmint/small whitetail cartridge.

Buffalobob on here has one as well and he has taken Antelope with his at extended ranges. He shoots the 115 gr bullets.

Re: 6mm-257 Weatherby?

My wife loves her 240 wby. It is a very accurate rifle. I also shoot the 240 gibbs which is the fastest I shoot. 6mm-06 imp is very accurate and slightly slower than the gibbs. Agree, the 6mm-257 wby is to much powder down the tube for 6mm=barrel burner. The 240 gibbs is the best I have found for most velocity with barrel life.
