IMHO This cartridge got a bum rap originally because of the 18 inch barrel which were on the M600 and M660 rifles, when the 6.5 Rem Mag. was first released.
It did get a bum rap for that reason and also the 140 grain bullets were seated far into the case.......Rich

Re: 6.5wsm

The line on your case just under the shoulder is from the ammo box, when the rounds move around, the top of the ammo tray in the ammo box polishes a ring around the case. Nothing to worry about.

AGREE! I had the same thing happen right after I had a rifle rebarreled and thought the chamber had a reamer mark! Those darn gunsmiths anyway

Re: 6.5wsm

Since my velocity increased a little with more rounds down the barrel, and it was not a consistant load at higher velocities (around 3200), I've adjusted my load downwards a little. Ended up with 65 gr H1000, 140VLD, Fed215Mag primer at a hair over 3150 fps.

Re: 6.5wsm

My brother in law built one off of his kimber for an ultra light packing rifle. I think he has gotten 3400-3600fps with 120grain tsx's. That gun has killed a ton of animals. I think he said he runs rl22 in it.
