6.5MM STW VS 264 Win Mag?

I'm thinking about building a new gun on a Browning BBR action that was a 7MM Rem Mag when I originally bought the rifle in 1983. Can't decide on which caliber to go with. I own a 7MM STW and it is on of my finest shooting rifles. Any input would be appreciated, as well as other suggestions.

6.5 is so close to a 7mm ? Why not 1/4 bore like a 257 Weatherby Magnum ?

Or a 6.5mm-300 Win Mag will work too.

I get 3300 FPS out of a 140gr in a 1-8 24 1/2" barrel.

My vote goes to the .264 Win Mag. Try to get a 1-8 twist barrel and some 140gr Berger. Retumbo is a good powder to use also.

My vote goes for the 264 Win mag also. Get as long a barrel as you can. Mine has a 27 3/4" Shilen and I get 3350 fps with 66.5 grs Retumbo and 130 Accubonds.

I have been kicking the idea of a 6.5 STW around myself, the STW would be the choice for speed above all, the obvious abuse your bbl will take might be a deciding factor as the STW can be quite hard on your throat, but as Kirby posted recently (great read by the way), overbore cartridges used in the correct manner can last much longer than most believe. If you are a speed junkie like me, why not?

Quality brass can still be had, yeah there are some extras in the reloading room, so? There is a great feeling to be had when working with a high horse power cartridge (& some frustrations!). If you have the knowledge in the reloading room... what the hey... but above all, have fun with it & enjoy one of the fastest 6.5mm's around.

Totally fkn pointless go with the original and best the 6.5 x 68 it was here before the rest a full 20 years ahead of the rest to be honest.
