6.5 WSM Owners

This is my first post, been lurking in the shadows for awhile.

What would be some realistic velocities that could be achieved with 130 and 140 Berger VLD's out of a 29" barrel.

Any opinions of this Cartridge (I now its a barrel burner but thats ok).

This will be primarily song dog and deer getter.

Any and ALL opinions appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hello! You arent' going to mess around, right away your going to get yourself an expensive rifle to shoot!!

I don't have any experience with it, but I'll throw this out there: I have heard that they can be tempermental to load for, but I could be wrong. The 6.5-284 is already a hotrod and hard on barrels. I beleive the WSM holds more powder yet, so it will really be overbore. Good luck and wait for more knowledgable members to pass their infoe ;)

I'm getting 3200 fps with the 140 gr Sierra SBT out of my 6.5 WSM with a 26" barrel. I think I am pretty close to max. I am using H1000 powder.
