6,5 BERGER 14OVLD vs SIERRA 142 MK?
I have been extensively using the 6.5 cal. 140 amax. Have tried the VLD 140 bergers a little and wanted to buy some more, but corrected BC is about the same as that of the sierra 142 MK.
Bergers are harder to find and more expensive.
Does anyone have experience with the results of the 142 MK on game past 800 yds?? or closer but over say 400 yds??
Comments are appreciated.
Thanls.

Re: 6,5 BERGER 14OVLD vs SIERRA 142 MK?
142 matchking muzzle velocity around 3125 hit these Michigan deer hard, farthest shot has been 545yds, but this load is still going 2100fps at 800yds with around 1400ftlbs of energy. Bullet performance has always been good on game for me albiet at close range can be hard on meat a little. But whos shooting close.lol Hard to get past 600yds on game in michigan (especially in deer season).

Using 142 gr SMK's at 2950 fps muzzle velocity, a large doe was shot behind the right shoulder and exited through the left shoulder at 764 yards, and was still able to run a bit.

I have a berger 6.5 140vld recovered from a antelope 925 yards at a muzzle velocity of 3040. you should see it before you shoot game at long ranges. I can't seem to post a pic here but can email one. I also have a recovered 284 180vld from a whitetail at 947 yards with much the same results. I can't imagine that the mk bullets would be any different but don't know for sure. the 140 6.5 vld's seem to preform well if the impact velocity is above 2500 fps.

2500 fps seem a little high as a minimal impact velocity. That would require most rifle setups to keep there shots under 400yds. Bud Martin, I would like to see a pic could you please e-mail one to Leupoldm4@gmail.com.

got you a pic on the way by email. I use the bullets for deer and antelope and get along well enough with them but don't want you to think for a minute that the results will be the same as a bonded bullet.

Bud, PM sent for the pics.
I agree on the difference with the bonded bullets, but I do not know of a bonded bullet that will have such a high BC as a Berger or some other match bullets.....
