Re: .375 RUM Wisdom

The 375RUM is gonna the be the next big thing... it will overtake the EDGE in LRH effectiveness, and one of the best all time long range calibers. The 350SMK and 370RMB projectiles are already here, more good options are coming soon. Run the numbers with these, you have the same flat trajectory as a 338EDGE, less wind drift, more energy downrange, and longer outright supersonic range... the only penalty is more recoil.

In fact, once more of these projectiles become available, you will also find people doing things like necking up the .338lapua or lapua imp to .375 for the better brass option, and of course the old faithful 378wby... then of course you already have the heavygun option of the 375cheytac for supreme LR performance...

An average G1 of .78 works quite good to well past 1000yds... @ 2000yds the trajectory doesnt line up perfectly, but the accuracy isnt too great by then so its hard put an number on it in the lower part of its velocity regime... its still reasonably close tho. G7 BC i use is .39.

The 370gr Rocky Mountain Al tipped bullet, an average G1 BC of .87 seems to work reasonably well out past 1000yds...

Both these trajectories are from a 375 cheytac @ +3100fps , so i would expect a slightly lower G1 average from a 375RUM...
