.338 STA

I'm new to the site and I am impressed, and dissapointed I did not find it sooner. I am looking for some feed back on ballistics, velocity and performance with the .338 STA.

I am currentley in the process of getting the ball rolling on a new custom built gun and was wanting more performance than the .340 Weatherby!! The cartridge must Cycle through a Rem 700 BDL. (currentley a .30-06)

I was recommende this caliber but I am unable to find any performance results on it. Any info will help.

Thanks

Re: .338 STA

I am a big time 340 fan (on my 4th tube), and for a long time we made brass out of 8 RM brass.

You can certainly do the 338 STA but I gotta believe it is not worth the effort, and you will not gain enough to make it worth the while.

Unless of course you just want to do things a bit differently, then I say get after it.
