Re: 338 RUM questions

300gr SMKs - 101gr US 869
2732/3732/3734 - bug holes NOTE: Change those 37xxs to 27xxs

Since Nosler is making 300 RUM brass, and no one makes quality 338 RUM brass, what prevents the handloader from necking up the Nosler 300 RUM brass to 338 and then running it through a 338 RUM FL size die to create "quality 338 RUM brass"?

Have the above from 7MM Rum Cases (REM) and will do it again from 7s or 300s. The problem was dimpled shoulders as normally seen from too much lube. I found no way of preventing it. Several fellas gave me pointers, including annealing, but I couldn't make any of them work, for me.

After 3 shots per case the dents disappeared and I was a happy shooter again.

Re: 338 RUM questions

Roy,

Thanks for the information. I figured that it would work, but I had to ask since I had not tried it as of yet.

Re: 338 RUM questions

Hi get the barrel rechambered to 338 Edge and you can just neck the 300 cases up with no other modifications. As a result you will also get a bit more performance out of it.
