338 Lapua Build thoughs
Looking at putting together a 338 Lapua, here is what I'm thinking:
Stiller Tac338 Action
Jewell Trigger
Krieger 26" SS Flutted Barrel
Muscle Brake (3 port)
McMillan A5 Stock
Seekins Precision DBM
Any thoughts? Will be using it for hunting as well as punching paper. Wanting a 1000+ yards. Thinking of picking up all the pieces and parts over the next few months, then need a gunsmith to put it together.
Thanks,
Terry

Re: 338 Lapua Build thoughs
Looks good. What twist are you planning on using? I am doing the same barrel just in 28 and probably want to shoot 250's mostly and a few 300's, so I think I'm going with the 10 twist.

Re: 338 Lapua Build thoughs
Was thinking the same 1-10 twist. As will likely be hunting with 250gr Accubond Bullets, but would love to play with some 300gr bullets just to see how they compare at longrange.

I'd go 28 inch barrel + plus brake.Sounds like a great project!

Re: 338 Lapua Build thoughs
I am doing almost the same exact, right now. My smith has the action barreled and working over the stock right now. I went 28", and threading it for my Thunderbeast suppressor. Pm me and when I get it done, will go out and We can shoot it. I live just north of Houston. Also if you are looking for a Gunsmith, I can hook you up. A couple of points about the stiller action. It is longer than the normal remington 700. So my smith is having to modify the stock to make it fit. Aldo I had to order a 110.00 action wrench for him. My reamer has only cut 1 chamber (mine), so it is almost new. Helps cut a good smooth chamber. He is a very good friend of mine, so he works for me for parts and tools. This the third rifle since April he has built for me. The first put 50 shots into a group I can cover with just over the size of a quarter. It is in 308. He just finished a rem 700 in 300 AAC Blackout.

Re: 338 Lapua Build thoughs
Call Mcmillan and tell them you are using a stiller. I want to build the same but using a Timney trigger. Also I'd do 28/30 inches.
